Samut Songkhram - Thailand

This small povince coastal with 74 kilometers in the western south of Bangkok, is interlaced channels irrigating the orchards. Floating markets settled in Bang Noi, Tha Kha, and Amphawa. The province is served by air-conditioned buses which leave regularly the Southern Terminal of Bangkok, between 4h40 and 21h30.

DON HOI LOT
The mud banks to the mouth of Mae Klong are populated shells similar to the solens. It is during the dry season (from April at May) that this mollusc is appreciated the most. Several restaurants and stalls sell also various kinds of products of the sea.

WAT PHET SAMUT WORAWIHAN
It is in the center of the city. The faithful ones come to request in this temple which shelters a very venerated Buddha. Close to the temple a landing stage is where it is possible to rent a boat to go to the market floating of Damnoen Saduak.

WAT AMPHAWAN CHETIYARAM
Ihis temple was the house of the queen Of the kind Rama II.

The vault is a beautiful architecture of the beginning of the Rattanakosin time. Furniture dates from the same time.

KING RAMA II MEMORIAL PARK
This park was built to commemorate the king poet. It is said that the king Rama II was born in this place. Its principal building is of teak Thai wood style. It is currently a museum, which shelters a statue of the king Rama II and exposes some of its literary works.
The park is open tous.les.jours of 9h to 18h. Entry: 10 bahts. One can go there by bus of the city.

TAO TAN
This province is famous for its excellent palm sugar. The place where the palm sugar is manufactured calls Tan CAT. There are five between the km 30 and the km 32 on the road No. 325. One can visit them.

WAT CHULAMANI
This old temple is located at the edge of the Amphawa channel. The woman of the king Rama I, and the woman of the king Rama II resided in a field behind this temple.

THE MARKET FLOATING OF THA KHA
The boat-merchants are given return in Tambon Tha Kha, with 10 kilometers of the city. The floating market is held 2nd, 7th and 12th days of the rising moon and of the downward moon, calculated according to the lunar calendar. It is also held saturdays and Sunday, of 7h with 12h.

THE FARM WITH THE ORCHISES
t is located at 5 kilometers of the city. The orchises push in a natural state in this garden which is also a reserve of butterflies.

FISH PARK at the temple CHAROEN SUKHARAM WORAWIHAN
It is with 5 kilometers in the north of Khonthi Bang. The visitors can nourish the fish which flow into the channel opposite the temple.

The cener PINSUWAN BENCHARONG
Destination for the ceramics amateurs, the center is in Bangchang, Amphawa. The creation of objects out of ceramics of style Bencharong and Lai Nam Thong was taken again since a score of years. It is possible to place order of a great choice of containers, bowls, goblets, basket, plates, according to the model existing, or according to the model of the customer

BENCHARONG

THE FESTIVAL OF THE MEMORIAL OF THE KING ROWED II
It takes place each year in February. The festivities include/understand representations and contests in various fields such as the kitchen, the craft industry, the horticulture, traditional music and the theatre.

THE FESTIVAL OF THE LYCHEES
It takes place at the end of April or at the beginning of May. In fact it became the Festival of the Agriculture of the province.
